Hello Band Families,
That’s wrap folks! Well, for marching season anyway. It has been an amazing season and they did so well this year and our show was fantastic! Just like every year since I began my involvement with the Emerald Regiment, I am always sad when it’s over-my daughter is too. Last year, when the marching season ended, she went through a period of letdown that took me by surprise. They are so busy and things are moving so fast then suddenly, it’s over. They miss their friends, they miss the crazy schedule (trust me, they do), but mostly I think they miss the camaraderie that comes with being a member of the marching band. Someone said to me just the other day, “you don’t realize how important these friendships are until they aren’t there anymore.” I think this is a big part of the sadness my daughter experienced when last year’s season was over. Suddenly, she wasn’t seeing all 100+ of her friends every single day and she missed them. So just know, for our new parents, this may happen. It really helped to jump right into another activity that kept her busy. She signed up for winter guard and then swimming and all was well in the Krone household. This week also marks the last “This week in band” as we will transition to “This month in band” beginning the first of the year. We will have informational emails sprinkled in at various times throughout the month but the only scheduled email will go out on or around the 1st. There will be no email in December nor is there a booster meeting so make sure you attend the November 5th (not 12th) meeting to hear the preparations for the new year. FROM MR. LESANDO We have been invited to another amazing opportunity this year - performing an exhibition for another high school's competition. We do not compete in this show but we are the "big band" that is brought in to display a level of to the activity that is not a commonality amongst the other bands attending. This is a true honor as this type of performance is usually reserved for the college and military marching bands. This event will take place during the late morning/early afternoon of October 23rd. Students will eat an early lunch at SW and will be bussed to perform and return at the beginning of 5th hour. I would also like to take a second and thank you all for a fantastic marching season. Your support for me, the staff, and your students is unmatched by most school band programs. I’m proud to see the growth in your students and our organization. We work hard and for a reason and it has paid off not only in public recognition but in the growth, maturity, and confidence that I see in all of our band kids every day. When I say that band programs like these are uncommon, it is true. We are fortunate to have an extremely supportive administration and a culture at the school that makes the BVSW band something special and unique for our students to be involved with. REMINDERS

QUESTIONS? Please contact Kelly Ketner. UNIFORMS There is only a week left of marching, but we want to look sharp for the last performances. Students need to fill out the sheet that is posted inside the band room door if there is a uniform that needs repair. We will take care of this if we know about it (as soon as possible). PROPS/SCHLEPPING
For anyone who has time, we could use some help loading the trailers at BVSW about 9:00 when the band finishes their morning practice. But we’ll need the most help at Spring Hill High School unloading and reloading there. Call or text Michael Crain at 231-631-3570 or Kerry Hafner at 913-707-4554 with any questions.

Hello Band Families,
Our final show is the Kansas Bandmasters Association Marching Championships or KBA. It will be held at Washburn University in Topeka and it’s looking like we will go on around 9:15 am. A more detailed itinerary will go out once all the fine points are ironed out. Friday the 25th is Homecoming and that’s our last performance for the season. It always amazes me how fast marching season flies by. With the end of the marching season approaching all too rapidly, we will be on the hunt for volunteers to help manage things next year. I’ll be sending out an email at the beginning of the year with openings. We have a lot of senior parents who help make things run smoothly behind the scenes and all those slots will need replacements! If there’s something you are thinking you’d like to take on next year, please reply and I’ll put you in contact with the volunteer in charge of the area you are interested in. Finally, pay close attention to the calendar this week. There are A LOT of changes. REMINDERS
