10/7 Next Week in Band

Hello Band Families,

October is here and as I told someone just the other day if it’s October, I’m busy on Saturdays. Only band parents get that I guess because I got a look like I had three heads. If you ask me, the best thing about fall besides Pumpkin Lattes is that it’s marching season.  I love going to competitions and seeing what all the other bands have been up to. Sitting with other band parents, either from your school or not, and listening to them cheer for each and every band's performance is just the best. We all know that all these kids have so much talent and work so hard that no matter what school they march for, it’s exciting to see the result of all that hard work.  Of course, I think ours is the best, but I might be a little biased.  

This is a busy week for us as we have a football game on Friday night and the SMN Marching Show on Saturday.  I’ll send out that itinerary on Monday. Pay close attention to your emails and calendar as they will have most of the information you are looking for.  

REMINDERS

• Band Booster meeting is Tuesday, Oct 8, 7 pm, Orchestra Room.  All parents are booster members and should plan to attend. 
• All student accounts should be settled by now.  Please send in any remaining balance you may have.  
• Volunteer, please!  It takes a lot of people to make the magic happen!!  Keep an eye out for those Signup Geniuses or just show up and offer to lend a hand.

FUNDRAISING

• Charlie’s Car Wash is coming up! Get a clean car for Homecoming week by visiting Charlie’s October 19th-October 26th. Details coming at the Booster Meeting this next week!

• If previous supporters start asking about Butter Braids, you can assure them we’re gearing up for this fundraiser.  Order forms will be passed out on October 17th and students will be able to sample some product!  The sale will start on October 24th and run through November 7th. Delivery is expected 11/21.
• Letter Campaign details will be shared at the Booster Meeting. Directors and Boosters will be working with the students on October 22nd to put letters together. Please send 10 addresses and 10 stamps or money for postage ($5.50 for 10 Forever stamps) with your student. All other materials are provided. Families will have the opportunity to view the letter at this meeting. If you are unable to attend, a detailed email will be sent the following day. This direct donate campaign has the potential to raise $10,000! Please join our efforts!

UNIFORMS

• There are so many behind the scenes folks who make our show come off smoothly. Thanks to those who donated their time last Thursday night for wolf pelt pinning. Another big thanks to Kim Nelson who sewed our water feature fabric. It takes a lot of hands to make this program as amazing as it is so thank you to all who have volunteered their time and talent!

NEXT WEEK IN BAND

7am rehearsal for all.

Tues, Oct 8
7am rehearsal for all. Percussion will be released to first hour then return for 2nd hour
3:30-5:30pm Percussion only.  This is a weekly sectional that is MANDATORY for all percussion students (front ensemble and drumline). 
5:30-8pm Color guard only. This weekly sectional is for color guard only. 
7pm Band Booster Meeting in the Orchestra Room

Wed, Oct 9
7am rehearsal for all.

Thur, Oct 10
Middle School recruitment night will replace the regular Thursday-night rehearsal. We will work with 7th and 8th graders for the first block, perform at 5:45 and have pizza right after.
