Good morning band families,
I hope to see you all at the football game tonight! We have 4 football games this season spread out through September and October so if you want to put all the dates on your calendar, you can find them on the band’s calendar on our website. Also, you will see on Sept 23, the Blue Valley District Marching Showcase is scheduled. This is a not-to-be-missed free event where the BV schools come together and showcase their productions. It’s very impressive and very popular. Plan on arriving early to get a good seat or you will be standing. It’s one of my favorite events. REMINDERS
FOOTBALL GAME 9/20 BVSW v BVH @ BVH: - Students report to Band Room after school - Dinner provided! - Bring compression, black socks, marching shoes, gloves, and hat boxes to school Friday. Size small gloves not yet received will be distributed after school Friday to those students (they were backordered). - The game starts at 7 pm at Blue Valley High School (159th and Nall) - The band will perform a portion of the marching show at half time Students will ride to and from the football game with the band unless other arrangements have been made with Mr. Lesando PRIOR to game night. Mr. Lesando will send a Remind when the band heads back to BVSW. Please do not block the buses or park in the bus lane. Wait for your students in the faculty parking lot. Roadies Help Needed at the Game! Meet us at the east entrance to the football stadium at approximately 5:30. You can’t miss us, we have the two big trailers right at the entrance! We can always use help to unload the trailers, move the front ensemble (the pit instruments), the sound system, director stands, and the props into the stadium. It’s Senior Night as well and since several of the “seasoned” roadies have seniors this year we’ll also need some additional help getting set up for the performance at halftime. We estimate we’ll need 12-15 people to unload trailers, move into the stadium and assemble props. For the show we’ll need at least 10-12 people to move the equipment and set in place. FUNDRAISING KICKING OFF FRIDAY: Jersey Mike's Fundraiser will kick off at the 9/13 football game and event will be held 9/16-9/18 at the BluHawk location. Band members and their families will be handing out coupons to friends, fans, co-workers and neighbors for sandwiches. A $3 donation gets you any regular sub! Patrons can get their subs during regular business hours in person. You must have a coupon (up to 5) for each sandwich. Thanks to all who responded to the call to help with passing out cards! Please stop at the table by the gate (5:30-6:30) or meet at the bottom of band section at the beginning of 2nd quarter to get your cards. 100% of the donation goes back the band! Band students will be hearing at Friday AM rehearsal what they can do to help with this fundraiser. Students will have access to cards starting Friday. We have 2000 cards to share!!! Share the love of a good sandwich and an EASY dinner! Attached is a a page of notes you can cut up and in mailboxes or front doors for all of your neighbors:) MUMS Thanks to all who participated and ordered! We sold 1217 mums. It looks like we made a profit of almost $5000. Good job! Below is a Sign-Up Genius and you can mark your calendars for MUM PICK UP DAY in the Southwest Band Lot September 21st 8 am to Noon. Please make sure to sign up Adults in the Adult section and students in the student section. We want to make sure we have enough helpers. NEXT WEEK IN BAND Sept 16-20 Mon Sept 16 7am Rehearsal. All students begin promptly. Percussion will be released to first hour then return for 2nd hour. Tues Sept 17 Rehearsal. All students begin promptly. Percussion will be released to first hour then return for 2nd hour. 3:30-5:30pm Percussion only. This is a weekly sectional that is MANDATORY for all percussion students (front ensemble and drumline). 5:30-8pm Color guard only. This weekly sectional is for color guard only. Wed Sept 18 7am Rehearsal. All students begin promptly. Thurs., Sept 19 5:30-8:30pm Rehearsal. All students attend. Fri., Sept 20 7am rehearsal. All students begin promptly.
