Hello band families,
Please note that we DO have practice on Monday, September 23, 7am, before school. Thanks to all who came to the booster meeting on Tuesday night. We had a lot of information to discuss and I hope it wasn’t too overwhelming. Please note the Roadie/Schlepping times below and volunteer to help where you can. If you weren’t able to make it to the meeting, we will be posting the minutes under the member's section of our website. Also THANK YOU to Kelley Tuel for designing the pelts for us and to those who took the pelts home to cut, THANK YOU! Please return them to the band room by Monday so the students can practice with them. Parents, this Monday the 23rd is the District Showcase at BVNW. This is when all the high school bands come together to showcase their fall productions. This is a student-centered band performance and not really intended for a large fan audience. Parents are welcome to attend but seating is very limited as the majority of the stadium is reserved for band members. It’s time for BOA! We will be sending out an additional email at the beginning of next week with all the information you will need for BOA. CORRECTIONS • There is school on Monday the 23rd for high school, and 7am practice. The calendar has been updated. • Jenni Daniel will NOT be able to hold your Mums (my fault, I misunderstood what she was telling me). Please make arrangements to pick up your Mums on Saturday from 8-12 (or have someone pick them up for you). REMINDERS

FUNDRAISING Thanks to all who helped make Jersey Mike's a success! We should hear soon how we did, but reports from people who went said the line was out the door! COMING UP: Charlie's Car Wash (October) and Butter Braid Sales (November). Letter Campaign: We will be trying a letter campaign this year for direct donations to the band. The board and directors have been working to make this happen for some time. A letter has been approved and we will be working with students after BOA to get them sent out to donors. Families are encouraged to begin gathering 10 mailing addresses and 10 stamps or $5.50 for postage. Please watch your email closely after BOA for further details and a copy of the letter. Any questions can be directed to Kelly Ketner at [email protected]. ROADIE/SCHLEPPING Another busy week and football game # 2, BV Band Festival on Monday and then our BOA trip on the next Friday. We have got the props pretty much done, just waiting for the artwork so we can attach that on. Once that is in we will be needing lots of help to get these all put on the props. We will let you know when we get them and send out a blast for help. Below is the quick rundown for the next 2 events. Friday: Football Game #2 4:00 pack trailers at BVSW 5:30 trailers arrive at BV Stadium and unpack Halftime - the band will perform End of Game - Pack up and return to BVSW We could use some help unloading at the school. Monday: BV Band Festival at BV District Recreation Complex. 135th and Sweitzer Rd 4:00 Load Trailer 5:00 Unload at the South end of the football field by the scoreboard. We could use some help unpacking and set up. BVSW will perform second. Pack trailers. The band will stay for the full show. We could use some help unloading at the school Next will be getting ready for our trip to BOA leaving Friday morning. NEXT WEEK IN BAND Sept 23-27 Mon, Sept 23 7am Rehearsal for all. Percussion will be released to first hour then return for 2nd hour. BV Band Showcase The band will report early and leave for BVNW for warm-up and staging. Students should be in the band by 5:15 to prepare for a 5:30 pm departure. The order of performance rotates every year. BVSW IS NOW GOING 2nd. Please arrive early as seating is limited. 6pm-7pm Tues, Sept 24 7am Rehearsal for all. Percussion will be released to first hour then return for 2nd hour. 3:30-5:30pm Percussion only. This is a weekly sectional that is MANDATORY for all percussion students (front ensemble and drumline). 5:30-8:30pm Color guard only. This weekly sectional is for color guard only. Wed, Sept 25 7am Rehearsal for all. Thurs, Sept 26 5:30-8:30 pm Rehearsal for all. Fri, Sept 27 7-9 am Rehearsal for all. The band will then load buses and transport to Cedar Falls. Stay in a hotel Friday night, compete Saturday and return late Saturday night. Have a great week, Shelbe Krone
