November in Band

Hello Band Families,

Now that marching season is over, things slow down quite a bit and that includes emails.  I will send one out monthly with brief, informational emails as needed. The entire month of November is on the calendar below and of course, everything is fluid so keep an eye out for changes.  For now, please note that students in Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band will have 2-3 rehearsals at 7 am before their winter concert (December 11th) in order to integrate the percussion and wind sections. These will be announced in class approximately one week before the rehearsal. 
After the spring semester starts, we will have a good grasp on who is not in the concert band and those families will be removed from the main email list but will be notified when we have the end of the year band awards ceremony, etc.   As always, feel free to shoot us an email if you have any questions. 
REMINDERS

• All student accounts should be settled by now.  Please send in any remaining balance you may have.  Unpaid dues are an expense the band does not budget for and could potentially cause a rise in next year's dues for the entire band if not resolved. Payment of band dues is required by all as stated in the fee agreement contract you signed when your student joined the marching band.
  •  If you need financial assistance with dues, please email Mr. Lesando to discuss options. 
  •  If you are unsure of your remaining balance, please email Pam Dorsch. 
• Next booster meeting has been moved to Nov. 5th, 7 pm, Orchestra Room
• Butter Braid orders due Nov 7th.  
• Winter concert is Dec. 11th.  Details coming soon.  

FUNDRAISING

• BUTTER BRAIDS: Sales are underway and you have 1 more week to get your orders taken. Order online HERE through band and color guard students. Butter Braids sell themselves as yummy breakfast pastries or tasty, quick desserts over the holidays. Order forms were passed out on October 17th. Profit from each item varies from $5.50 to $5.90 per item. Last year we had our highest sales ever topping out at $5750! Help us beat that this year with a goal of $7,000! The sale runs through November 7. Order forms can be turned in on the 7th, but absolutely NO LATER THAN class on November 8th or your orders will not be placed. Please place order forms and $$ in an envelope and turn in to the box in the band room. Delivery is expected on November 22. Watch your email/Remind for delivery details! • LETTER CAMPAIGN: Thank you to all the families that participated! If you ended up mailing your letters from home, please let Kelly Ketner know so Fundraising can track the rate of return. This information will help guide our decisions on this fundraiser for next year. Students will receive their donation slips back before Winter Break so that if they choose, they can personally thank donors that responded to their letters. Email [email protected] with your number of letters mailed or if you have questions.
• CHARLIE’S CAR WASH: We are waiting on our profit from this fundraiser, but we have heard that many people went through during Homecoming week! Thanks to all who got cars washed or purchased e-gifts through Charlie’s website. 

COLOR GUARD

Anyone interested in Winter Guard should contact Ms. Bock about dates. We will be holding some clinics in the beginning of November for those interested. Strong movement skills are encouraged and would suggest getting with a color guard member to learn the warm-up exercises before we start to get a grasp of what is being asked. All skills will be taught for the show, the correct attitude and work ethic are needed to make this competitive group successful. Any student in attendance at BVSW is welcome to audition, more information will be going out through the school.
