This Week in Band - September 24

Hello Band Parents! Please pay special attention to those items in red as they are outside the norm.   Sorry for the length but we have a lot going on!
NEXT BOOSTER MEETING:  Sept 27th, 7 pm. Location at BVSW is TBA. Please make this meeting a priority as we will be discussing BOA. This is your opportunity to get all your questions answered!
CURRENT EVENTS:

• Mum pick up Saturday 9/22 from 9 am to 1 pm:  Pick up your Mums in the band parking lot. Volunteers are still needed! Please click to sign up to help. Remember, volunteering counts as service hours too! .  
• Charlie's Car Wash fundraiser ends on 9/23! This is the easiest fundraiser ever!  See flyer.
• District Marching Festival 9/24.  Students report 4:45 pm. See below for details.
• Our Go Fund Me drive is off to a great start. Please copy this link and send to your family and friends and be sure to thank them, from all the band families, for their support. https://www.gofundme.com/st-louis-competition
• Friday, 9/28 Permission forms due date:  If your child will be riding home with you from St. Louis, Mr. Lesando MUST have a written permission form on his desk on or before Sept. 28, no exceptions. Your student may get the “Return from STL Permission form” outside the Band Office.  
• Production of spirit wear will be completed Friday, September 21 with delivery soon after. Watch the website and remind texts for notification of distribution day and time!!

A WORD FROM MR. LESANDO AND MS. BOCK:
The BV District Marching festival was designed as an experience for the high school marching band students at the 5 high schools. The majority of the home-side seats are reserved for the band members to watch other schools, enjoy a performance environment that isn’t tied to scores, and learn from the shows happening right here in town. Many times at competitions, bands are forced to sit in end zones and on sidelines, rarely giving them the perspective of the audience members. Families are more than welcome to attend! However, any family that wants seats should come to the stadium early. Please remember the focus of this night is for our performing students in the HS Bands to enjoy each other before the competitive season begins.There is no winning or losing this show. We are not given a rank. The performance environment is high energy because the students feel motivated to perform well and show off for the other schools. For those going to the festival….GO BANANAS when you see something that you like! Feedback from our audience fuels the energy of the performance and helps create an awesome show dynamic for the students.  Thank you!

A WORD FROM YOUR BVSW BAND BOARD MEMBERS
Your band directors, board members, and committee chairs and members would like to thank you for your continued support of our band fundraisers. The money raised helps reduce the costs of BOA. Don’t forget to share the fundraising opportunities you’ll see in the coming weeks with family, friends, and neighbors and give them the chance to support the band! The band’s success benefits the entire school and community.

District Marching Festival:  All band member report to the band room by 4:45 pm.
Eat SOMETHING before we go, there are no concessions at the stadium. Dinner is not provided for this event.
5:00 pm-6:50 pm: Board buses for BVNW, warm-ups
6:55 pm: National Anthem
7:00pm: BVSW Performs first (Performance order: 1) BVSW, 2) BVNW, 3) BVW, 4) BVN, and 5) BVH)
Families are welcome and encouraged to attend this free event.

5:30pm-8:30 pm rehearsal

Marching Band Football Game #3: All Band Members report to the band room at 3 pm.  
Approx. 5 PM-Pizza Dinner Provided for Students (free)
Approx. 5:30 PM-Board Buses and Ride to BV High
HALFTIME SHOW - Perform 2018 Show All other games, from 9/28  forward, we will perform at halftime.  Any changes to that will be sent via Remind.
Students will be able to purchase concessions during the third quarter
Approx. 9:30- PM, Return to SW.

• Families and friend are always welcome at any band event.  Please remember there is an entrance fee for those who are not participants in the marching show.  
• If you haven’t signed up for remind do so now.  It’s free and it’s the best, most efficient way to learn about last minute changes to rehearsal and/or show events as these changes will not be emailed out.  Simply text @mrlesando to 81010.
