CURRENT EVENTS:

• SPIRIT WEAR: If you have not picked it up, it is in the band room.
• Oct 1, 2, and 3: Jersey Mike’s fundraiser.

           - The Emerald Regiment is having a fundraiser with Jersey Mike’s next week!
        - Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday if you donate $3 you get a free sub, but you must have the card! (handed out at last nights booster meeting).The band gets a percentage of the profit!! Please pass out to friends and family. Yes, if your family of 4 each have a card – all 4 eat for $12! Yes, if your kiddo is having a sleepover with 12 friends and you have 12 cards you can feed them for $36 – cheaper than pizza!

• Oct 2: Butter Braid tasting after 5:30 rehearsal; order taken through Oct 18 and delivery will be Friday, Nov 2. If each student sells just 10 Butter Braids, we will make over $9,000. That money will go a long way in getting us to BOA! Please see this flyer for details.

A WORD FROM MR. LESANDO AND MISS BOCK
BOA is a new competition for our band and we have been receiving questions about finals.   As always, our goal is for the students to be competitive and put their best show on the field with the end goal of making finals.  With that said, there are several things to keep in mind that make BOA different.

1. There are 80 bands competing from around the region.
2. Only 14 bands make finals.
3. 3 of the bands competing finished in the top 10 at BOA Grand Nationals last year.
4. We are one of the first bands to perform in the prelims.
5. This is our first year at BOA.
6. We are one of the smaller bands as far as number of members.  In other competitions we typically compete in a 5A class, we are a 2A band size in this competition.
7. All bands are considered equal when determining finals qualification.  There is no adjustment for the size of the band.

We know our students are going to do great and represent themselves and the school well.  They will stay for finals regardless of whether they’re competing or spectating. We encourage families to stay as well as it is a great opportunity to see some amazing bands whether we’re able to compete or not.

Did you miss the change in performance time for the Homecoming football game?  Sign up for ‘Remind’ and it won’t happen again!  If you haven’t signed up for ‘remind’, do so now.  It’s free and it’s the best, most efficient way to learn about last minute changes to rehearsal and/or show events as these changes will not be emailed out.  Simply text @mrlesando to 81010.
